What are Butterfly Valves?

A butterfly valve is a shut-off valve with a straightforward design. The disc seals the valve bore when closed but allows flow when turned open. The butterfly valve provides for rapid opening and closing by turning a quarter turn from entirely open to fully closed, or the other way around.

Where are butterfly valves used?

Butterfly valves can be used for a broad range of applications in water supply, wastewater treatment, fire protection and gas supply, chemical and oil industries, fuel handling systems, power generation, etc. Some of the advantages of this type of valve are the simple construction not taking up too much space, and the lightweight and lower cost compared to other valve designs.
